A simple life

I don’t have a lot of stuff. My apartment 5 years ago was the size of my living room now. I now have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, garage, basement, and a deck. Even now I probably could fit everything in one of the bedrooms.

A while ago I finally bought a few chairs to put on my deck. They are the only items out there. What’s surprising is the length of time that it took for me to acquire them.

 

In fact, I have probably been on my deck the same number of times as I have been in the past 5 years.

Why?

I always found a way to keep busy and quite often I had very little time.

Before moving in I was working a full time job and cycling nearly full time. Between the two or so hours before work, an hour or two after work, and at least 10 hours on the weekend, it was a lot but I managed to do it.

Yes I know I am a bit crazy but isn’t that what’s makes life fun and interesting?

After going from a full time job to not working at all I found that  I had a lot of time on my hands. The laptop, the tv, and lots of riding kept me busy. Let’s not even touch the weather, where it was either hot, raining, windy, stormy, or snowing.

The views from my deck are nothing special: you have some trees, other decks, and others backyards.

 

Again being a minimalist, sometimes the simpler the better. With the nice weather during the morning and evening I can sit here in this peaceful environment and just think.

This peacefulness also gives me a chance to think about my next steps for cycling. Do I want to continue? Sometimes I feel like I am just not good enough.

How do you find peace in an ever changing world/ environment?
