The shoes do the talking!

Do you think you know what someone needs because that is what you need?

Do you figure that if you can do it then they ought to be able to do it?

Do you find that you are confused because they turned down your invitation even though they were looking for something to do?

This is a problem that I often face and most of it deals with just not knowing.

They think brain injury and they think incapable or you need gobs of extra support. Shouldn’t the person be able to decide whether or not they want help? Safety may be a concern in some situations.

They see cane and assume you need a wheel chair. I am the one using the cane, don’t I get to make the decision about whether or not I use a wheel chair?

People often think that I am just being stubborn, ok that may be part of the problem but it is not the whole problem.

Even people that may seem or look different than you deserve the same respect that you and I get.

Don’t judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes

This saying is pretty straightforward but it seems that some people just miss the overall meaning.
