Like most people I keep many important documents in my wallet/purse like my driver’s license, insurance card, debit card, and cash on hand.
But for some people other documents are readily available like a DD 214, NGB 22, Blood Donation Record, etc.
Many of these documents are some form of paper and some are plastic. And still some are both.
With this heat wave I try to keep a bottle of water nearby. Yesterday was no different. And when I set it down it must’ve gotten knocked over. And for some reason it was “open”. About half of the bottle spilled in my purse.
There were coins and pens that got wet but the thing that got soaked the most was my wallet. Sifting through it I noticed a few things:
The items that were just paper displayed beautiful rainbows or were even torn.
The items that were plastic were in the same condition as before:
But what shocked me the most were the two items that are paper BUT covered in plastic:
This got me thinking. If our lives come down to pieces of paper (birth certificates, Social security cards, marriage licenses, etc) then how are we to protect them if there is no plastic nearby? How else are we to protect them? We could keep them locked up but what if something happens to you and whoever comes to the rescue is unable to access them to get the help that is needed.
Or we could keep them with our parents. But what if something happens to them? Or they live miles away?
