Common sense!

It’s such a simple topic but yet there seems to be a declining amount of it.

Are kids being taught this now a days?

Quite often I am clueless as to why people act the way they do.

And it is often frustrating and quite annoying.

Here we come to the topic of assume, did you know that it makes an ass out of u and me?

(ass + u + me = assume)

I am quite aware that I sound differently. I am also nearly 50% deaf in my right year, some of which is from the military and some of which is from the car accident that changed my life.

However I have learned to overcome this weakness and direct most of the hearing to my left year.

But it doesn’t always work. I also hate it when people assume that I can’t hear because they hear me speak.

This afternoon I pulled through a Starbucks and said mobile order for Mandy in the speaker. I pulled up and she proceeded to hand me a piece of paper. I again said mobile order for Mandy. That’s when she wrote NAME on a piece of paper and showed it to me. I again said Mandy. By this time I am very frustrated.

It would be one thing if I signaled that I can’t hear perhaps by signing the alphabet. If I started speaking Spanish I am sure that would throw her off. But my problem is that she ASSUMED that I couldn’t hear. That I do have a problem with.

As If I don’t have enough to overcome and tackle, having others assume something based on outward appearance is annoying!

It shows a lack of common sense, treat others as you want to be treated.
