Good morning all! Each of us have strengths that may not be immediately recognizable. Some may be good at one thing while others may be good at something else.
The value you place in yourself may not be strong at the present time but if you change your surroundings and attitudes about it, then you will change your perception of how valuable you are.
I speak from experience sadly. As someone with a brain injury you are not always thought of as capable of doing the same in depth task as your peers. It was pretty much drilled into your head that you are “f*c**d” up and you won’t be able to achieve it.
When I got to a point that I recovered enough to work I aimed for a position that didn’t involve much in depth process. Although I have a Master’s Degree in Forensic Accounting as well as military service, I didn’t think I was capable of doing much more. After being in that position for over 3 years and 3 different managers, I look back on it and think why the hell did I stay there? I finally got the courage to apply for more advanced roles and we’ll see how this turns out. I hate waiting on the call.
Change your surroundings to change your perception.
