Imagine no limitations on what you can be, have, or do.
Life can throw a lot of curveballs in our path and we may not always like them.
Maybe we lose a parent or a family member or a good relative or a good friend.
Or perhaps we don’t get into that Ivy League School and have to settle for a different school.
Or perhaps we don’t land that promotion that we are all set on getting.
Or even maybe our life just doesn’t go as planned when you have a near death experience.
But if we push through them then there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Maybe losing a parent or a loved one can bring someone into the equation whom you get to love and enjoy being around.
Maybe that school fits your values stronger and is better aligned with your career goals.
Maybe not getting that promotion means that you can help the company grow better from the ground up.
Maybe now you realize that life is very precious and is not all that bad.
A little more than 10 and a half years ago I went through a near death experience. Not that I remember much about it which may be a great thing!
I’ll be honest, I have somewhat been unwilling to meet new people since then. It is sometimes tough for me to get around and for a while there when people heard me speak they would turn and walk away.
Life just sucked and I didn’t think much about it being made great again.
I have attracted many people on LinkedIn in a virtual world by what I say and what I do.
Ok I have to say I am not the typical stereotype of someone who came from where I was. A master’s degree in forensic accounting, an internationally ranked paracyclist, driving, and buying a home (condo) are just a few of my accomplishes now.
When the opportunity for a LinkedIn Local came close by I jumped and signed up immediately. But then I second guessed it.
Will they like me in person?
Will I be welcomed?
Will I be treated differently?
I’m happy to say that I was welcomed and liked (I think?) and I was treated no differently. I won’t complain one bit at all!

Thank you sir! I have thought about speaking but I kind of have this voice disorder known as Dysarthria which can make it difficult to understand me. I’ll stick with typing since I can do that okay. 🙂

Your blog really inspired me and you are awesome! I have a cousin who was left paralyzed from the waist down after back surgery and she’s quite young with a family. She has also been an inspiration to me and many others. It’s so true, that your life really is what you decide to make of it. We all need to hear your story and keep hearing about your daily overcoming spirit…keep writing!
